Storytelling performance: The Swan's Tale

Joutsennainen's story is based on ancient metamorphosis stories, which storyteller Anna-Maria Toivonen has researched for several years while preparing this show. The story combines myths about Finnish women turning into swans and Scottish and Greenlandic selkie and sealskin stories.

The story of the swan invites listeners to think about what happens if our wings are taken away. There are times in our lives when we have to put ourselves and our creativity aside because our attention is needed for other things. We endure it as long as we know we can dance, sing, paint, play or whatever it is we need to do to be ourselves again.

During an activity session suitable for the whole family, we will dive into the meaningful characters and stories of our folklore and the tradition of spells using the methods of living storytelling and nature education. During the dramatically unfolding activity, which includes various tasks, we ponder the relationship between man and nature and how to survive there - while being inspired by our rich storytelling tradition.

Tuokio progresses Anna-Maria Toivonen (storyteller-folk music pedagogue) and Niina Heikkilä (nature and wilderness guide and drama educator). Also ask about other storytelling packages. Request an offer for the story of the Swan for your group
